TS4: The Final Frontier... Is Actually Quite Boring (Part 12)

Note: Did you know you can click on any of these images to see a better version of it?

The Sims 4: The Final Frontier... Is Actually Quite Boring

Nosco gets ready to board his rocket, named the S.S. Phallic Imagery, off to
explore the infinite reaches of space.
And we have liftoff!
With much noise, Nosco leaves the neighbourhood, ready to explore the infinite
reaches of space.
Myllenium eagerly awaits Nosco's return, excited to hear his stories, and perhaps
a little nervous. Regardless, this will provide much material for her future books!
And a few minutes later...

Nosco returns successfully from his trip.
So what happened? Well I had to play through some semi-interesting choose-your-own-adventure style dialogs, and ended up with absolutely nothing. The story itself was kind of cool, involving playing a story in reverse (time-wise), and then getting it right in the right order, but the actual mini-game was kind of a letdown.

In other news, Myllenium has been getting tense since she lost the gym, so I built her a small solarium gym on the side of the house for her.

Which she's been using.

A lot.

Another short update for today. Yes, this one is also lacklustre, so I'll just give you a sneak peek for next episode to keep you interested:

Until next time!

TS4: Rocket Science and Other Worldly Pursuits (Part 11)

The Sims 4: Rocket Science and Other Worldly Pursuits

A short update today, mostly because those screenshots are over two weeks old and I'm having a hard time remembering what happened since then.

As the title implies, Nosco has kept working on the rocket, and has in fact finished it.

I'd really say more about it, but the first spacewalk will have to wait until next update.

Lilith had a sad day at school, and after eating a sad hot dog retired to bed to cry it out.

Seeing her dejected daughter, Myllenium had an idea.

After changing from her work clothes (I should note that she's climbing in the writer career), she decided to mentor Lilith in her creativity tasks.

Sadly, Lilith was not interested in writing, preferring by far the violin in the pursuit of fine arts.

I won't lie to you; I'm really trying to get this update out of the way. More interesting things are coming next time, and I want to tackle it ASAP.

Myllenium and Nosco's stove broke. We can see this from the plume of fire
currently burning Nosco's eyebrows off.
Stay tuned for more!

TS4: To See a Man about a House (Interlude)

The Sims 4: To See a Man about a House

So recently you've probably noticed that my updates have been few and far between. Yes, I have been playing a little less these days (dividing my time between work (mostly), TS4, and Dragon's Dogma), but when I actually have been playing, I was spending time doing other things than spy on the Sabrukas. See, in theme with having them become a royalty with a legacy, a bloodline and all that god stuff, I wanted them to have a chateau, a real manor to call their own. The Sims 4 has really upped the ante in terms of house building tools, and I have found myself wanting to make some really nice abodes. With that being said, let me introduce you to the Sabruka Cottage:

A 3 bed, 4 bathroom cottage smack in the middle of rich country. This large house has much space for activities, both inside and outside.

Now, let me level with you for one minute before moving on to the tour. Recently I've been working quite a lot, and it's been a while since I actually took those screenshots. In fact, the cottage itself was finished sometime early last week, before my last blog entry, so I may or may not have forgotten certain details along the way.

So on the first floor, we have two main living rooms. One is a quaint little television/movie room:

And the other is more of a tea room, or a reading room:

The first floor also boasts two bedrooms, complete with their own private bathrooms:

The dining room features some nice, country-style furniture to feel at home in:

The kitchen, while spacious, also has a cozy feel to it:

To close off the first floor tour, let us take a quick look at the old-style privy located at the back:

The second floor opens up to a large waiting room, complete with a game of chess, some paintings and some nice sofas to relax on:

Near the back is a music room, for those who are more inclined towards the fine arts:

A small, two-person study is also available for work or any other scholarly persuit:

Finally, the second floor also contains a large bedroom for the masters of the Sabruka Cottage:

While the interior of the cottage certainly has a lot to offer, the grounds have also been decorated and modelled in order to provide the greatest opportunities for growth and pleasure. The main backyard contains a nice little porch and some planters, along with a small gazebo to relax in:

On the left is a small grove for those romantic nights out:

And finally, last and least, on the right is a small cemetery for the members of the Sabruka Family to be laid to rest:

So, that is the gist of it. When will the Sabruka family move in? Well, that all depends on when they can afford it. Once they move in, expect some changes in order to fit everyone's personalities. Anyways, that's it for now. Cheers!

TS4: Come Fly with Me (Part 10)

The Sims 4: Come Fly with Me

As is true with every family, the arrival of the Sabruka children changed routine around the house. Coupled with the massive inflow of money from Myllenium's royalties and from Nosco's top-of-the-career position, the Sabruka household has gone from scrambling for money to enjoying life, more or less. The spewing routine has also changed dramatically since the kids can't cook for themselves (what a bunch of losers).

Ignore the little crafts project in the back, I'll get to that later.
While letting them go about their lives, Myllenium seems to enjoy the fine art of painting, Lilith keeps practising the violin and Aidan keeps moving about.

Lilith has been very diligent for her school work, and it is clear that she is out to succeed. Aidan, on the other hand, has been less preoccupied about his scholarly pursuits. I still haven't decided which criterion or criteria I would use to determine the heir, but academic prowess would definitely be something that Myllenium and Nosco would be evaluating.

"Look at the nerd! Hey nerd! Stop doing nerdy things!"
That only leaves Nosco with nothing to do other than play video games all day (yes I see the hypocrisy here). He only works 3 days a week, and of the other 4 only one is with the whole family, the other being alone with Myllenium. I needed to find him a hobby, maybe even another career.

So I began building.

See, Nosco has always had somewhat of a fascination, what with making games related to space and reading sci-fi all the time.

So I gave him a little hobby. You know, something simple with which he can occupy his time. Something like going to outer space.

To be continued...

I mean, of course it's to be continued, this is my blog and a Let's Play of The Sims 4. I wouldn't just finish it there, but I'll have to end the post here; I'm working on a secret project, and it's been taking more of my TS4 time of late, so the next few updates may be shorter than usual. Anyhoo, thanks for reading!

Cheers,
Jonathan

TS4: How Do I Parent? (Part 9)

The Sims 4: How Do I Parent?

One thing I was keen on was that Nosco and Myllenium's children would have traits randomized from their parents. Using a random trait generator I found online, I gave both Aidan and Lilith randomized traits and aspirations. Sadly, I forgot to note down the traits (next time!) but I gave Aidan and Lilith the Rambunctious Scamp and Artistic Prodigy aspirations, respectively.

Do parents analyze their children while they sleep? Or is that a creepy thing to
do?
What do you do when your twin babies suddenly and inexplicably become twin children who know how to walk, talk and perform other tasks flawlessly? Send them off to school, of course! One of the first things that happened after they grew into children was a small alert telling me they were late for school and were going to perform poorly if this continues. Well sorry, they're only about 3 days old (which is like 1 sim-year).

Side-Note: fix aging. The way aging works in TS4 is that your current sims age normally and you can choose whether or not your neighbours also age. Currently I have set them to age, but since I don't play them they won't have children. They will grow old and die and I will be left with a ghost town.

Nosco finally reached the end of his career path, which results in a whopping 15000$ of profit per week (still pales in comparison to Myllenium's +3000$ per day). The main difference is that he now works 3 days a week, and somehow needs to look like Steve Jobs when heading to the office.

Complete with turtleneck and smugness.
Now, I knew TS4 introduced some new genetics mechanisms and improved the general way things are passed on to children, but this is a little ridiculous. I mean, Aidan and Lilith, despite being twins, look nothing alike. In fact, they seem to be clones of their respective parents, with Aidan looking like Nosco and Lilith inheriting her mother's fiery hair. Their personalities, however, are the opposite, with Aidan being hyper-active and hyperactive, while Lilith prefers playing the violin.

Poorly.

Oh God we can hear it from over here.
Aidan is also very social, always eating with his parents.

While Lilith tends to eat alone or with her brother.

Did I mention that I don't control them at all? Aside from telling them some things parents would normally tell their kids ("Come down and eat before you starve to death.", "God you smell like sewage, go take a bath.", "No one likes you, go practice talking to yourself in front of a mirror."), I largely leave them autonomous as much as possible.

One last note before I leave; while real-life siblings normally like sharing absolutely everything, I noticed that Aidan and Lilith wouldn't bathe or pee in a shared bathroom, since they usually try to go at the same time. To remedy that small, stinky problem, I had to build them separate bathrooms.

That's all for now! Until next time,
Snowman
